Last week’s video was all about reducing and reusing, and this week is all about compost! For those that don’t know what compost is, it’s organic material that can be added to soil to help plants grow. Food scraps and yard waste together currently make up more than 28% of what we throw away, and should be composted instead. Making compost keeps these materials out of landfills where they take up space and release methane, a potent greenhouse gas. On TheKindLife.com, there’s a post about a company that will pick up your compost and do it for you! Just search How To Make Soil on the site! Compost makes your soil rich and powerful, plants & food can grow in a way, in composted soil, that they never would in conventional store bought dirt.
