Dear Dad...Spending time with you this past couple weeks has changed something in me. We haven’t always been close; something I know we both now regret. But when I called you in tears from the airport in Nice, stuck in Europe & not sure where to go, you welcomed me with open arms. It brings joyful tears to my eyes to think of just how similar we actually are! I feel proud of my German heritage. I’ve cherished these days we spent talking with each other, but more importantly, listening to each other. I had a lot of pain & angst growing up surrounding our lack of relationship but now I can say I’m so very proud to call you my father. Ich leibe dich ❤️
