We played about a dozen shows in just a few days, none of them paid and all of them required set up ourselves. The true good ol days/cutting teeth period for any young band wanting to make it. I remember driving from Denver, Colorado to Austin, Texas which is about a 14 hour drive. We had stopped at a hotel and the next morning I woke up with a severe case of pinkeye which then bloomed into a beautiful sinus infection which Wesley also had the luck of getting. Allergies hit us both like a ton of bricks and I can remember we had done so many interviews we were passing the phone back and forth with each other to save Wesley’s voice for the gauntlet of shows that was laid out before us. There was one show that we played at a bar where literally no one was listening, it was packed to the gills, no stage and was probably the loudest din you could imagine in a place where a band was supposed to play. Also, there was no PA/speaker system 😃 so we were all screaming trying to get people’s attention.
