Rising with the 🐔 and the 🌞. ⁣

Little moon, who normally likes to sleep in, has started waking up early and it’s both the sweetest thing and a bit of a struggle. I want to rise early so I can have an hour of stillness before I begin my day but it’s like the moment I open my eyes, she starts stirring and groggily wanders over. Instead of making her go back to bed I embrace it and we enjoy the stillness together. It’s incredibly beautiful, the hour before sunrise. We spend most of it snuggled up on my yoga mat, her asking questions, me doing my best to satisfy her never ending curiosity. ⁣

“What is that star called?”⁣
“When the sun comes up, where does the moon go?”⁣
“The lizard I saw yesterday isn’t here anymore. Do you think it’s sleeping?”⁣
“Do lizards have beds?”⁣
“Why is the sky so many colors?”⁣
⁣
Today I got half an hour of practice in before she knocked on my rooftop door, drawing pad and crayons in hand, telling me she was going to draw the sunrise😭⁣

This kid. This sky. ⁣
⁣
I’ll cherish these mundane, extraordinary moments for as long as I live💛
