Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) youth are the least likely to register to vote and show up (in 2016, only 49% of us showed up to vote). This isn’t on our parents--this is on us. AAPIs are also the fastest-growing demographic of eligible voters. That’s 11 million eligible voters with a growth rate of 139%, compared to the 7% growth of caucasians. We have the unique ability to reimagine the America we were born into. We must realize that it’s not just a system that’s omitted us--it’s ourselves who haven’t even registered.
