And we are over the moon with the news! Bakhita is progressing well and keepers report that her appetite is increasing which is a great sign! What is iconic about this pregnancy diagnosis is the cumulative effort of our reproduction biologist, zookeepers and veterinarians! Although we are proud to announce this exciting news on World Rhino Day, the reality is that this incredibly iconic creature which has roamed our earth for more than 14 million years are facing a dire future. Aside from having an incredibly successful Rhino breeding program, Taronga has also been helping rhinos in the wild through our Sumatran Rhino conservation work which we have been supporting for more than 20 years!
