Yet here we are.. counting down the days for chemo & radiation to start and I’m still not comfortable saying that phrase. I found out on my final day riding in Iceland last month… it was a bit of a surreal experience coming home from such an incredible trip, truly the highest of highs... to being thrust into the lowest of lows. If you know me, my family, or are lucky enough to know Maile, you know how important she is to my life and my story. Par for the course with 2020. I don’t share this to drag anyone down, I’m sorry I know it’s a bummer... I say it because holding onto something inside that is so painful fosters it’s own type of sickness. One that I am doing my best to purge by saying it vocally, in order to grow and move on. I know there are a lot of close loved ones that I use social media to keep in touch with that are finding out in this incredibly informal way... and to them I’m sorry. I’m just not ready to pick up the phone and face it. More than anything I share this to ask for you to create a little space in your heart for for my mom and if prayers are your thing- I’ll take all I can get. Hug those closest to you, force them to get checked even for the small things, and remember that Time with those we love is our most precious gift. Don’t waste it.
