“When Iman met Ruth”

I’m forever grateful to Diane von Furstenberg for honoring me for my philanthropy work especially as CARE’s Global Advocate at the DVF Awards 2020 at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. early this year…. but the highlight of my evening was meeting the honorable Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, not to undermine that I was being honored the same evening
as Ruth was!!!
As you may imagine she was in the center of our orbit that evening and all eyes and ears were on her…. but she was ever so graceful, remembered all our names and spent time with each one of us individually.
She also graciously deflected the spotlight, as she accepted her Lifetime Leadership Award, allowing it to bask all in the room with her words:
“What an incredible evening this has been for me. To hear about women who have taken tremendous courage and changed the world. In my long life, I have seen great changes and that’s what makes me an optimist for the future.”
