Halpern is pictured here with Ghalia, an obstetrics and gynaecology doctor for the NHS – and also the designer’s best friend – who has been taking care of pregnant women during the pandemic. What is keeping you inspired? ‘My friends, team, and family are the things keeping me most inspired recently! Everyone has had a rollercoaster of things happen to them in the past six months, and their resilience and hopefulness is what is giving everyone the incredible confidence to move forward in this world.’ How did working on this collection differ to other seasons? ‘Working on this collection was extremely different to past seasons. Of course, when it was the full lock down here in London my team and I had to work independently, but we made it work. When developing the collection, the biggest point we wanted to make sure came across loud and clear was the hopefulness for the future; this was my guiding principal when designing the SS21 collection. Right now, we want to give people a picture of the future that feels inspired, hopeful, and has a true sense of everyone working together to make our world a better place for all.’ Looking forward, post-COVID 19, what change would you like to see in the fashion industry? ‘What I would love to see for the future is a much heavier emphasis on aspirational and emotional clothing. Authenticity is the most important thing for me when designing a collection, and I am so grateful that is how our collections are understood season after season.’ 📸 @zoelower」9月19日 0時20分
