This Hispanic/Latinx Heritage Month, Latinx employees of Walt Disney Animation Studios are sharing their stories here. Meet Juan Pablo Reyes, Creative Executive:
"I was born and raised in Guadalajara, México. I majored in Industrial Engineering and worked in that field for a couple of years. I later got an MFA in Film and TV Producing from USC. I have been working in the animation space ever since.
When I was little, I dreamed about working at Disney and in animation. Yup, I was that kid that was obsessed with this since I was five years old! I even sent Disney a letter with some drawings, and they responded to keep doing it!
I'm the youngest of four siblings and have five nephews and three nieces. All of my family still lives in México and I love them dearly. I have an awesome husband and his name is Chris.
Being Latinx means being proud of the beautiful country and city I'm from. It means traditions, culture, and mostly family love. I'm proudly "hecho en México". You can never take México out of Juan Pablo. I also love being a part of the bigger Latinx community in the US, I have a love for the people with whom I share a background and want to support them as much as I can. We are stronger together!” - Juan Pablo Reyes, Creative Executive
