Lena Waithe is a writer, creator, producer and actor who was the first black female writer to be nominated for, and then to win, an Emmy for Best Writing in a Comedy series for MASTER OF NONE. She made her film screenwriting debut last year with Universal’s QUEEN & SLIM. She is also the creator and executive producer for the Showtime series THE CHI, Quibi’s docuseries YOU AIN’T GOT THESE, Amazon’s horror anthology series THEM: COVENANT, BET’s BOOMERANG, and TWENTIES also on BET. In addition to her television and film credits, Waithe developed her own production company, Hillman Grad Productions, that goes against the status quo to give marginalized storytellers the chance to let their voices be heard.
