Sally made landfall as a Category 2 storm near Gulf Shores, Alabama, Wednesday morning, with sustained winds of 105 mph. The storm, which then moved inland, pummeled southern Alabama and the Florida Panhandle, prompting water rescues, sapping power, dropping trees and leaving serious flooding as it crawled at an agonizingly slow pace.
