Mazzy has a few shelves above her dresser that have been housing her Lego set builds and these miniature cardboard houses that she makes for years. They have all collected so much dust, but she has refused to get rid of them. I get it. She worked hard on all of them. When I told her those shelves were going to be her Zoom background and that if she cleared them, she could put whatever she wanted there, suddenly she was on board. She kept only the most important creations and that area has never looked so neat. Swipe left. Mazzy was the least excited of all of us to come back to the city. She has been saying that she wants to stay at the house for months. We even discussed the possibility of her staying there with Mike, while Harlow and I commuted back and forth. But after a few days doing remote school from her bedroom in the city last week, she said she wanted to stay. “I like my zoom background here better.” In this day and age, that’s as good a reason as any 💁🏻‍♀️ I wrote a post about our first week in NYC with all my feelings about being back.
