"After watching the weather for a few weeks I saw the perfect window arrive to get an astro shot I’d been planning at Cradle Mountain.
The forecast called for a big dump of snow (hello wombats in snow photography too) followed by clear skies. I captured the wombat and the astro shot but the wind had been too strong to get a clean reflection of Cradle Mountain (an iconic shot for any photographer at this location). I returned pre-sunrise on my final morning, hoping for some wispy high clouds to light up for the perfect glowing reflection shot.
Of course, mother nature does not take orders and the sky was almost cloudless so I tried a slightly different composition to the usual Dove Lake shot by incorporating the gnarled branch of an overhanging tree to provide balance to the image. I like the muted colours despite initially hoping for glorious reds and oranges.
It was a cold but memorable still winters morning and I had the park all to myself. Cherished memories!" - @davidsinclairphoto
