I’m nearly 40 years old and have battled with & thru my mental health nearly my entire life. I wasn’t actually aware of it until about 3 year ago, but stress, anxiety, perfectionism, self-loathing, depression, and an overall sense of not being worthy of life & love have plagued me from middle school, to high school, to Hollywood, & beyond. I found ways of coping with these things. Relationships, self medication, and, my personal favorite, losing myself in work that came with the validation of others, all had their fair share of keeping me afloat. As long as something could drown out the voices in my head that told me I was worthless, I could at least keep moving forward, in hopes that one day I would somehow outrun the darkness. But, as it turns out, you can’t outrun the darkness, because it’s in you. Whenever & wherever you stop, it’s right there, waiting to whisper it’s lies into your ears and heart anew. Lies that feel so real, because they are formed from the lies you’ve heard before. Untruths spoken over you by those that should’ve spoken only love & encouragement. Fallacies ingrained in your heart & mind by broken parents, family members, friends, or teachers. Broken because they themselves were lied to about the worth THEY brought to the world, and why. In a world of likes & views & followers, where money & fame & power seem to reign supreme, and anything less feels like abject failure, I am here to remind you AND myself that all of that is absolute, 100%, HORSESHIT. You are not defined by your parents inability to love you, or your teachers inability to understand you, or society’s inability to accept you, or the internet’s inability to not be just a giant cesspool of fakery & shallowness. You, my friend, are worthy of your life, and love in your life, simply because you ARE! The odds of earth possessing life are ASTRONOMICAL, and the odds of you making it here are EXPONENTIALLY more so. YOU are a MIRACLE.
