instagoodさんのインスタグラム写真 - (instagoodInstagram)「@brandtryderphotography Asters After Dark- I found this location near #crestedbutte because of a sunrise exposure taken by the super talented @benstraussphotography - In an effort to not impinge on Ben’s creativity (aka comp stomp) I decided to try this spot as a nightscape. Given the angle of sunrise from Ben’s exposure, I had a good idea that the Milky Way would align behind the mountains and I think it worked out well. I have also used a number of techniques learned from Ben’s post-processing work flow/ tutorials- specifically luminosity masks, dodging and burning, light painting and micro-contrast edits. When I first learned these approaches I was unsure how they would translate to night photography but as I have mastered them they are making their way into my nightscapes more and more (thanks Ben).
