Slowly and with caution, New York has continued to reopen gradually in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. In Phase 4, there are a handful of beauty services that are now accessible in a limited capacity, but getting a professional facial is still largely unavailable—and it's costing estheticians and facial studio owners even more after months of lost income. One thing to note? There are over 40,000 licensed estheticians that are predominantly female in New York, which also makes these restrictions inherently sexist.
