Please check out this moving tribute from Soulrocker @family.rewritten , the mother of Isaac who many of you have met at concerts in many cities. As a white mother raising a Black son, I realized early on how imperative it was to seek out mentors and role models for my child. It was a learning curve, realizing all the education and intent in the world would never be enough to fill that void for him. It necessitated a release of the perception of control over our parenting with an intentional trust turned over to Black men to develop in him what we could not. We have men in real life who’ve poured and continue to pour into our son and for whom I am forever grateful but also, there are those who are building him up from afar and whom we’ve never even met.

It is for this reason I cannot sleep after just learning of @チャドウィック・ボーズマン ‘s passing. I’m wrecked. How to put words to the role Black Panther has played and continues to hold in our family’s life? T’Challa has been mentioned literally daily in our home for years- and I do mean literally in its intended form. My child is a better human for the blood, sweat and tears @チャドウィック・ボーズマン poured into that role, and for the beautiful, strong, proud human that he was when he stepped out of it.

I am thankful- GOD, so thankful- for @チャドウィック・ボーズマン and Black Panther. How is it that grief and gratitude so often travel together? We’ll miss you from here. Thank-you, from Isaac’s Mama.
