Between the badly handled pandemic that 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘀 to ravage the US and keep us captive in our own country to the horrific treatment of our black and brown brothers and sisters to a regime that feeds and stokes divisiveness, greed, and white supremacy it feels hard to get through a day lately.⁣ ⁣ These trees on 1000 Steps Beach once loomed large, their roots firmly entrenched in the earth, their branches and roots giving life, oxygen, and protection to all nearby. Once deeply grounded, these sentinels lived long enough to see their foundations worn away little by little until they could no longer remain upright. This feels like America right now. ⁣ ⁣ Let's take some time to reevaluate what's really going on around us. There's still time to stop the hate, the fighting, the treachery. You can't run an entire political ideology on "owning" "triggering" or upsetting someone else. We need vision, ideas, to listen to each other when we're hurting and innovate ways to move forward together even if we don't always agree.⁣ ⁣ A man who stands in front of the people's house, a man who relentlessly engages in childish namecalling, who praises dictators, encourages conspiracy theorists and vigilante gunslingers...who says "we're here and you're not" is not fit for the job of keeping the United States United. I'm tired of the pettiness, I'm tired of the cruelty, I'm tired of the unkindness, the lack of compassion and empathy.⁣ ⁣ When people are hurting and they feel they have no other voice but to take to the streets, there's a reason for that. It doesn't get better by encouraging citizens to take up arms against each other. It gets better by listening and making changes so that this country is fair, equitable and works for everyone.⁣ ⁣ I realize there's no one or perfect answer right now. But each and every one of us can check ourselves on how we treat one another. We don't have to be at a violent crossroads.
