Thank u @katiecouric for posting this. I am inspired by the actions of these athletes and role models. The tragedies and injustices we’ve seen in Kenosha this week are symptoms of the 2 diseases plaguing America - the toxic culture of guns combined with systemic racism and white supremacy. “The @wnba joined the @NBA in sitting out last night’s games to protest the police shooting of #JacobBlake in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Players from the Washington Mystics, the Atlanta Dream, the Minnesota Lynx, the Connecticut Sun, the Phoenix Mercury, and the Los Angeles Sparks all took a knee and linked arms on the court during the national anthem. The @washmystics players wore shirts that had seven bullet holes in the back, representing the seven shots police fired at Mr. Blake. Elizabeth Williams, a forward with the @atlantadream said in a statement: “We stand in solidarity with our brothers in the NBA and will continue this conversation with our brothers and sisters across all leagues and look to take collective action.”
