The French Braid - invented in France in 1651 by a young milkmaid named Helene Au Lait. Her hair was getting in her face as she worked, and she adapted the already popular classic braid into what we call The French Braid today. Almost 350 years later, for any big event, my three sisters and I would get our hair braided like this by our mother. Thanks to 23&Me, we now know that Helene was my great, great, great, great, great, great Grandmother. How cool is that!? I'm sorry. I have to level with you guys. None of that was true. My mother would braid our hair for big events, but everything else I made up except that Helene actually was my grandmother's name. I love this look and would do it every day if I could but it is so challenging. @kyleeheathhair - you are an angel sent from above. Thank you for being my Expert this week and having endless patience with me! Watch along as I try my best to master this 5th-grade hairdo. Can you all french braid? Am I the only 35 yr. old woman who doesn't even really know how to braid?
