Throughout, he reflects and comes to terms with death, growth and transcendence, and the myth of the American dream.⠀ ⠀ He was one of 14 New York-based artists to sit for a portrait by Brigitte Lacombe (@brigittelacombe) for our May 2020 issue, to celebrate Hauser & Wirth’s (@hauserwirth) upcoming space in Manhattan, on 542 West 22nd Street. On 12th September, the artist returns to Hauser & Wirth Zürich with a new exhibition entitled ‘Flowers, Windows and Thistles’, debuting a suite of drawings and paintings which utilise still life and landscapes in combination with an idiosyncratic use of material and form.
