Aside from being baptized Greek Orthodox and going to a weekend church camp when I was 14 because @brianldunlap told me there would be hot girls there (he was right) I never thought about god. When I first got sober at 17 I was introduced to prayer and it made me super uncomfortable. Made me cringe, really. But I wanted to stay sober so I said fuck it and tried to have an open mind. Flash forward to 23 I wanted to get sober again (3rd time) but just couldn’t stop and part of me didn’t want to live anymore. I thought the easiest outcome would be if I just died in my sleep so started hitting my knees before bed and asking god to let it happen. I’m very grateful my prayers were unanswered and I’m so lucky I get to write about stuff like that now. It’s therapeutic for me still and I can only hope some of the music I write can connect with someone who might be having a similar experience. p.s. hot girls aren’t enough to make church camp fun 🙏🏼」8月21日 10時08分
