Her costumes - a collaboration amongst herself and friends create characters that contrast her lyrics and in turn become a fantastical narrative for her audience to interpret. Currently a BA Fashion Communication and Promotion student at Central Saint Martins, Beale, aged 21, grew up in Tottenham as a queer woman of mixed Caribbean and British heritage. Following the release of her debut single ‘Tender’ in September 2019, the result of her first heartbreak, Beale went on to art direct a ‘Tate Late’ evening at Tate Britain and even rallied a mosh pit amongst the gritty, underground stages of the Pickle Factory and KeepHush in London. Now Beale is back with a new project titled ‘Our People’ which honours 17 rising creatives of colour from stylists and musicians to poets and photographers. “All of the creatives featured are my G’s and a lot of them I have met via Instagram or social events. I selected them based on their persistence in supporting the BLM movement and passion for change within their creative practice”, she said. “I ran around London for about three days to meet all of the 17 creatives in their home areas to capture their photos then I melted the images together via photoshop and eventually I saw a sunflower form”, said Beale on the development of her graphic T-shirts. For every t-shirt purchased, 50% of the profits go to Sistahspace, a non-profit organisation founded by Ngozi Fulani for African survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.
