A week ago today, I was in labor. The time is already flying and these postpartum hormones can’t handle it. Aurora is already a week old!! 😭 I’ve cried at least once every day since her birth. Mostly happy things like just thinking of her existence, but there have been a few rough moments I didn’t expect.

Our first night home, we put her in her bassinet on Luca’s side of the bed since I’m recovering from the C-section and couldn’t get up on my own to pick her up even if I wanted to. And I realized after Luca went to sleep that I was so weak, I couldn’t even lift myself off the bed to look at her and be sure she was ok. And it sent me in a full blown panic of how I need to be able to see her safe as she sleeps. (We settled on putting the bassinet at the base of the bed which was so much better).

And just now, we had our first pediatrician’s appt and we walked in, I saw the long line to check in and a semi packed waiting room, and I started internally panicking (because of COVID concerns) and all I wanted to do was to take Aurora and run out. I never had this type of anxiety about COVID pre-birth. Even though we have always taken it seriously and taken all precautionary measures like masks and self-quarantining.

While these weren’t pleasant moments, I’ve been told this is totally normal for postpartum. And there’s been an infinite number of other, beautiful moments that words can’t describe ❤️ I could sit for hours and just stare at her, which is exactly what I do for the hours and hours I’m feeding her each day 😂🥰

P.S. So many of you asked about the swaddle in this video! It’s from Lou Lou & Company and it’s just a normal swaddle, but it’s very stretchy (like jersey knit fabric) so it worked really well to swaddle her to me. We don’t love it as a normal swaddle (mainly because Luca’s swaddling skills need major work and this is too stretchy - Aurora gets out of it every time 😂) but we love it to swaddle her to me for skin to skin time 🥰 #newborn #soakingitup #fbgmoms #postpartum
