It’s been fun writing again with @wesleyschultz. A practice we like to do is listen to other songs as reference points to see what they do, how artists connect verses with choruses and back to the verse. Paying attention to fluidity, dynamics and instrumentation. When starting a brand new song we can only work on it for an hour, maybe 2. It just takes our brains into over-drive and after an hour or 2 it becomes a zero-sum game. Requiring a break from it and returning to it another day, each next time for longer and longer. That’s a mouthful, but a long-winded way of saying how perfect this song is (at least to me). It’s a huge inspiration, amazing instrumentation and incredible melodies. The way the busy melody provides all the verse lyrics and how they’re sung from one word to the next, each syllable to the next is perfect. When you get to the chorus it feels like a release, a newfound liberation and @jakobdylanofficial choosing every word in that chorus perfectly. Crank this. It’s one of the best recordings I’ve ever heard.
