It’s been a heavy week. Grief is an uninvited guest crashing the party with its weight crushing shock and loss. Yet in its paradoxical juxtaposition of life and death, if embraced, it somehow carries us through and back into life, back into living, and somewhere in the loss is an exchange, a gift imparted, though if I am honest, I still grit my teeth somewhere in there for which I hold no remorse as it is but a testament of a heart that embraces fully and wholly. And yet it is worth it, always, through and through. . I imagine this season has held an element of that heavy weight in some form and semblance for all. Sweeping changes and shifts, constant pivots and unknowns. It’s a lot. Somewhere in this saunter through brambles and beauty I have learned to give myself grace, and to be honest with my heart, truly and unapologetically so, and in turn adjust my veerings to be congruent with those very truths. I have learned to let go and shut doors, and I have also learned to embrace peace in new ones opened. It is okay to grow and outgrow. It is okay to change and keep changing. It is okay to get muddy along the way. And it is more than okay to take pauses, to relish in small and big joys alike, and to make plenty of room for beauty.
