We love incorporating ancestral elements into our shoots. One of our favorite things to do is to put our own spin on traditional hairstyles, accessories and clothing to allow us to push the limits creatively. For this shoot we used two strobes, one placed slightly above our subject and one with a colored gel placed directly behind pointed towards the backdrop. We used a fan to exaggerate Farouk’s beautiful curls. We created this image using our Canon 24-70mm f2.8L II at f7.1 to produce this rich, vibrant image."
