We humans love water 🌊 . We 🎣 it, we 🏊 in it, we ⛵ through it, and we build 🏠 on it (like in this community in Naples, Florida). But even though we 💙 it, we don’t always treat it with care, says photographer Ed Burtynsky. He uses images like these to force us to take a hard look at how we use — and misuse — our natural resources. Take these waterfront homes. They’re gorgeous, but many Florida homes like these are projected to be underwater by 2100, because of rising sea levels due to climate change. Still, there’s good news: It’s not too late for us to work together to protect the planet. Visit our stories to learn more about @TEDCountdown, a global call to action on the climate, and how you can get involved. For more eye-opening photos from Burtynsky, visit the link in our bio.
