Photo by Prasenjeet Yadav @prasen.yadav It was in February a few years ago, in India's Himachal Pradesh state, and the temperature was well below -20 degrees Celsius that morning. I was alone, and I had walked more than an hour in the snow with heavy gear on my back, and I still had a few kilometers ahead to reach my destination. That's when I saw this beautiful snow leopard resting close to the road. By the time I noticed him, I was already pretty close, and it made more sense to lay low than to walk back. It was keeping an eye on me, but didn't look bothered. I sat down, and the leopard put his chin down, giving me a bit of confidence about his comfort level. After looking at the cat for around 20 minutes through binoculars, I pulled out my camera. The next few hours were quite unreal. Every time I took a photo, the leopard looked at me, hearing the shutter. That's how close we were, and to make sure not to disturb him, I just chose to shoot less. After a while, a vehicle came up on the road; I'm not sure if it was the vehicle sound or harsh sunlight, but the leopard walked away.
