During a break one day, Stephan went to the gym. The rest of us went for tea and coffee and came up with this Dazzleships idea. Brad had been reading about Dazzleships and how effective they were during WW2. Not to camouflage, but to confuse. We made the song up walking along Valencia St singing out loud, then tracked it in one take back at the studio. We all sang the vocals, even Brad. Stephan arrived back at the studio and proclaimed it the greatest Third Eye Blind song that's not a Third Eye Blind song. We decided to play a show at The Chapel around the corner from the studio. We'd play incognito under the name The Dazzleships, play a bunch of the new demos we'd been working on, and open and close the gig with "Overture" (the name Cavy came up with for the new song).
