A major retrospective of pioneering Chinese abstract artist Hsiao Chin’s work has opened at the @markrothkoartcentre in Latvia. The exhibition sees six decades of the artist’s work converge with the institution’s permanent collection of Rothko paintings, exploring for the first time, how both artist’s ideas intersected in the 1960s.
In this film, he talks about the global influences in his art and how, much like Rothko’s work, it is shaped by pockets of silence and reflection.
