Each spring, we bring in a dozen young pigs, and move them around on the property where they clear the land of invasive species and condition the soil, as they put on weight from the organic vegetables we feed them. Dr. Lana, the kids, our farm help, and I work together to provide the best possible environment for the pigs. The pigs are heritage breeds that industrial feedlots have almost made extinct, because they don’t grow as quickly, and they don’t make as much fat as industrial animals. Slower growing heritage breeds have more time to incorporate healthy fat and nutrients. They also have more time to incorporate toxins from their diet. Since our pigs eat clean – including #Bulletproofdiet activated charcoal and Brain Octane and tons of Bulletproof Coffee grounds, with occasional fasting - we minimize the toxins, maximize the nutrients, and make sure there is no corn oil or soy bean oil incorporated into the meat. With daily respect, care, and gratitude, we provide for the animals. In return, after they have done their job on the farm and we have cared for them, they provide sustenance for our local community. We pay attention to every detail, including how the pigs are ethically butchered. If there weren’t small farmers doing this kind of work, these breeds would be extinct, and we would be losing soil at an even faster rate. It’s a big day! This is the inaugural bacon from this year’s pigs at Asprey Farms.
