This is an excerpt from his letter: “This morning for breakfast I ate raw broccoli. If I am not mistaken, it is the first time I have had raw broccoli since I have been locked up. The reason I had the broccoli is the same reason why no one has cared if unarmed Black people were being shot until video was shared broadly about what was going on... we are presently on lockdown here at the prison - we are being told it is a 14-day precautionary lockdown due to Covid... while on lockdown we are fed sack meals - called Johnny Sacks. Shamed, the prison officials started adding a little bit here and there to liven up the sacks: broccoli.” So sorry for all the inmates and for the system that treats them without the dignity of life.
