🧠 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR EGO:
1. The ego is created in childhood, when we are in an ego-centric state (meaning everything happens to us because of us) Many adults do not develop beyond this ego stage.
2. The ego is the voice within the mind that tells us narratives are who we are—it’s the self concept
3. Ego itself is not ‘bad’ or negative thing— its part of the human experience.
4. When we are unconscious (unaware) of our ego, it drives our behavior. When we are conscious (aware) of our ego, we can have choice to act beyond it.
5. Ego work is the practice of witnessing your ego: understanding it stories, observing your responses, understanding your triggers
6. Ego activation is when our ego is triggered + we become reactive, defensive, + divisive
7. A fragile ego feels that difference in opinion or beliefs is a threat to sense of self + judges both self + others harshly
8. Our ‘highest self’ is the self that’s able to observe our own ego
9. We are not attempting to kill our ego or erase it from our experience, we are working to understand the ego which allows us to integrate it #selfhealers
