Here backstage with Joy and Helmut after one of our shows, on our way to late dinner, as we always did after the show we did all over the country. It was Regis who encouraged me to get a nightclub/cabaret act together and work with him. He and Joy were in the audience my opening night on Broadway—he was so generous and warm and enthusiastic. I am forever grateful to him—and beyond happy to have known him and worked with him. Joy was the first person we thought of when we heard the sad sad news. Helmut and I send her our most heartfelt sympathy—she is the loveliest, Regis loved her so much and was always so deservedly proud of her—her beauty and charm. We always ended our show with a duet of his favorite song—“What a Wonderful World”. Joy was at the center of that wonderful world of Regis’.
