Photo by George Steinmetz @geosteinmetz Cape fur seals warm themselves on the sands of Cape Fria, Namibia, after feasting on fish that thrive in the cold waters of the Benguela Current. The current flows north from Antarctica, causing an upwelling of nutrients that are the basis of the marine food chain. This is the northernmost breeding colony, with some thirty thousand seals, which are now threatened by warming surface waters.
