I admit I loved seeing all my beautiful empowered and uplifted friends the last couple days and their b&w selfies. A powerful show of the beauty and strength we have together as women. As friends. But this is the face we should have been seeing this week. Actually she is one of many. Pinar was only 27, and found dead earlier this month. A victim of #femicide in Turkey. You see, women in Turkey wake up daily to their Instagram feeds seeing black and white images, all victims of Femicide. So the black and white photo challenge was chosen to break up the saturated b&w photos that usually accompany these dreaded posts. To show solidarity and silent strength on a global scale. This is the current #challengeaccepted origin. And it’s important to understand where this comes from so that we can support the cause cognitively and with action. (See #istanbulconvention) We are learning as we go. Instagram is a tool for some and an escape for others. But I think we can all agree that the last thing we need in our world right now is shaming in the form of judgment. Women will always have to fight for autonomy over our bodies & for full respect so the last thing we need is added criticism and judgment over these selfies. I truly hope each of us are doing our part to better the lives of all women, so if posting a photo of yourself and tagging a friend that uplifts or inspires you makes you feel good for a day and at the same time, unbeknownst to you, it is supporting a whole other group of women and a cause across the globe that deserves awareness, then so be it. But now we know, so we can get out there (and off insta!) and together we women can make real change. 🖤 Love, Kim #turkishwomen #womenempowerment #womensupportingwomen #instanbulconventionsaveslives #pınargültekin」7月30日 11時23分 - aliciawitty

This was our sister.
Pinar Gültekin.
