RIP to Malik B of the legendary Roots crew. If steel sharpens steel, Malik was the ginsu knife to Black Thought's samurai sword. While he rapped less and less on the later Roots albums, the pairing of Black Thought and Malik B on the first couple of Roots album set the lyrical bar so high that Black Thought ended up becoming a favorite MC of every MC as time went on. From the outside looking in the Roots have always been a family regardless of whoever makes up the current group line up. Malik B of the Roots crew is a part of my lyrical DNA. He will be missed. To my Roots family, hold ya head we LOVE y'all. From Illadelph to the entire world, Foreign Objects, Money Making Jam Boys, The Soulquarians, Fifth Dynasty, everybody.
