He came up the hill, and when he reached the top, he started to play his guitar without strings and sing. He told me his name was Angel, and he invited us inside his home which was just behind him on the corner of the colorful street. We talked for a while, and I asked him if I could take his portrait. He agreed, and then he suggested his own version of the portrait. You can see both in the series. The following year, we passed through the same street in Istanbul. His apartment was empty. Hope he’s as happy now as he was when we met him and that it’s easier to get to his new home.

Él subía la calle y al llegar arriba empezó a tocar su guitarra sin cuerdas mientras cantaba. Después de decirnos que se llamaba Ángel, nos invitó a su casa que estaba justo detrás de él en la esquina de la coloreada calle. Tras charlar un rato, le pedí tomarle un retrato. Cuando terminé me pidió hacerle otro a su manera. Podéis ver los dos en la serie de fotos. Volvimos el año siguiente y pasamos por su calle en Estambul, pero su apartamento estaba vacío. Ojalá siga tan feliz como aquel día, y que allá donde viva ahora sea más sencillo llegar.
