“I miss my school, my teachers and my friends.” 11-year-old Dechen in Bhutan is doing her best to learn during COVID-19, but is finding it hard to study without the help of her teachers. “I understand the lessons better in school when our teachers explain; I don’t understand much when I watch it on TV. At school, the teacher explains until we understand the lessons but on television, the lessons go very fast and we can’t catch up.”

To help children reach their full potential, UNICEF is calling for schools to be the first public services to re-open as communities recover from COVID-19.
