“I met the Rev. C.T. Vivian when I was working on a Vanity Fair article for a DreamDevelopment client (Dr. King’s attorney). Rev. Vivian was Dr. King’s Ministerial General within the movement. I picked him up from the airport. That first conversation began a series of conversations over the years that spoke to questions I didn’t know I had. Our first conversation began with my perceived failures of the Civil Rights Movement and what my generation could learn from those missteps. I was honored by his participation in the launch of the Ossie Davis Endowment on July 21, 2008. I relistened to one of our interviews (circa. 2005) and we chatted about ego, calling, leadership and movements. Here is an excerpt.
