1969 saw the release of arguably the brand’s most robust watch at the time: the King Diver 1000. As the name suggests, it featured 1000m water resistance. During this time, Japanese manufacturing could not produce a watch case that provided the high degree of sealing, so Orient turned to a 43mm case made in Switzerland. The inner case of the watch was made of soft iron to enhance magnetic resistance. The watch was powered by the 27-jeweled, automatic caliber 49 series.
