When I was young I had a fascination with all things wild & science started my career as a zoo keeper at Shoalhaven zoo, Just after my 18th birthday after some tragic event i lost all the passion and love i had for animals. I saw an ad in a local newspaper for an alpaca shearer which i applied and than traveled throughout Australia and New Zealand, I got to see a lot of the land and learnt a lot! eventually moved to the University of Sydney I looking to reconnect with Mob and inspire other young people like me who had some rough times in life.  I started yarns about science with kids in Redfern and Waterloo as part of the AIME program at the  carslaw building at Sydney Uni where we would yarn about all things science! I felt inspired these kids were so smart and so engaged but they found science inaccessible. I wanted to see what resources were available to remote schools and quickly discovered how under resourced our people were and decided to make a change so I sent every book I owned and DeadlyScience was born!   When I started DeadlyScience I had many conversations with people to try and get it off the ground and a lot of doors shut in my face and really it was Marry Anne Large and Alice motion from the University of Sydney who really encouraged me to make something of this and keep striving forward. Often when you start something like this you receive a lot of unsolicited advice and people doubting you. But something in me decided to keep going and working harder. In 2018 I took up a second job to fund DeadlyScience and worked double shifts to pay for postage and books.    #ShareTheMicNowAustralia #DeadlyScience #ShareTheMicNowAussieTeachers #AmplifyAboriginalVoices @empoweredpedagogy @deadlyscience」7月24日 8時38分 - courtneymelba
