A few weeks ago the last remaining Tidbinbilla platypus at Taronga Zoo Sydney were returned to their home at @tidbinbillanaturereserve! Joining the first group of platypus that were released back in early May. Our incredible keeping and veterinary staff had been caring for these animals since December last year after they’d been rescued from Tidbinbilla. Prolonged drought conditions had caused waterways in the Reserve to dry up and the threat of fires were imminent. As a result of rainfall, the creeks are now full again at Tidbinbilla and there’s plenty of food for the platypus to flourish! We are really proud to have partnered with @actparks and @unswscience on this emergency recovery effort. Before the platypus were released they were fitted with transmitters so researchers could track their movements. This tracking information will be used by researchers at UNSW and Taronga to better understand this elusive creature. #tarongatv #forthewild」7月23日 16時01分
