It was pretty rough,” he says. He started modeling at 10 years old while struggling with gender dysphoria. At 16, Casil decided to transition.⁣ ⁣ “I grew up in Colorado in a small tourist town in the mountains. I sat with myself for a long time with the same questions for many years: ‘What do I do in this body that is not right for me? How do I handle this as I get older? What about my career, my personal life and my personal self? Is it all worth it if I can’t truly be who I know I am? Am I comfortable with this being my life forever?’⁣ ⁣ The answer that always came back to me was no, I’m not comfortable with this. I either live this lie for the rest of my life and suffer, or, I choose me, my mental health and well-being, go for self-love and happiness and take it from there.⁣ ⁣ I think I’ve had a lot of breaks in the industry but obviously, to me, my greatest break was being able to transition and continue to model. Not just that, but having people behind me that led me to be able to show my true self to the world.⁣ ⁣ I didn’t know if I could be myself and keep my dream job, but to my surprise it happened.
