This space of quiet is needed. In seasons of ease or grit, it’s needed. And especially within extended indoor seasons. Prior to the reality of pandemic living, the comings and goings of a regular day was such a passing norm, unthought of as an exception. What I could not possibly realize then that I am so intimately acquainted with now is how the movement and shift in scenery by something as simple as running an errand does wonders in keeping the mind afoot and afresh and in perspective. Nowadays this movement must be created with intention and effort in order to create a semblance of harmony and balance, and for me, this entails time spent gazing out the window or the insatiability within my creative space. It keeps the cogs of responsibilities and practical routines running well without the crash of burnout. The inner wellspring is most worthy of our exuberant investment for it nourishes all other wells within and around our lives. I used to wonder if it was an indulgence to have this time aside for myself, and I concluded that regardless, it’s an indulgence that’s absolutely vital, and so I relish it. . . . .
