These children are about to receive life-saving vaccines in Nigeria. But across the country, too many girls and boys are still waiting. Last year, just 57% of children in Nigeria were fully vaccinated for serious diseases like diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis. 2.5 million children received no vaccines at all - the highest number in the world.⠀
⠀
Today, this already fragile health system is facing a new threat. The #COVID19 pandemic is severely disrupting immunizations in Nigeria, leaving even more children at risk of measles and other contagious diseases. As we respond to the new threat of COVID-19, we must continue to protect children from old and persistent dangers that could surge in fresh outbreaks - unless we act now. #VaccinesWork⠀
