I first posted this photo on July 4 2015. I look a little like a hostage. I think it’s because I was so filled with the desire for all of us who want to know more and those of us who need to know more and don’t know it...I was so filled with that desire and I didn’t know how to express it. Now, I have occasion to hear from some rising juniors. They are aching for a year of U.S.History that gives them the whole picture. The BIPOC parents I know ache for it to be included in the curriculum because it might help them metabolize the trauma they suffered as they watched this ENORMOUS, all-important part of the narrative left out.
