Why are you having such vivid dreams during the pandemic? Everyone is trying to make sense of this unprecedented time, and as visual storytellers, @kathleenflynn and @moxiesdaughter wondered what it would look like to recreate one through animation. In his dream, @andysarjahani, a documentary filmmaker in Chattanooga, had seen people in a busy bar turn into cardboard cutouts and fall over. @deirdre_barrett_dreams, an author, artist and assistant professor of psychology at Harvard, interviewed Sarjahani about the dream and helped him analyze it. When she asked where else he had seen cardboard cutouts like those, he recalled the movie 'Home Alone,' where the boy uses them to scare away intruders. Even though it’s a comedy, the film has a powerful emotional feel, which makes it good fodder for a pandemic dream, Barrett said. "The idea of a child being by himself, imperiled—this is kind of primal,” she added. "I think it’s how some of us are feeling about the lockdown ... Not just literally people who are alone, but even if you are with one or two or three other people, you are so isolated from most of the world." Read more at the link in bio.
